THE COMING HOME PROGRAM

IN-HOME FAMILY TRAINING & SUPPORT FOR REINTEGRATION

THE HOME PROGRAM

(Transition support for the whole family)

Parents should be trained and prepared to support loved ones returning from treatment with the same skills and support as staff at programs.

Our “Home Program” Service is a training model utilizing our full service menu as a package to prepare parents for the return of their loved one from treatment in wilderness or Step-down programs. Our trainers work with parents and the whole family (Including the returning teen or young adult) with as many support calls as they need each week to create a long lasting “program” with stages, treatment options, school and “real life” integrated into each family’s unique situation.
Services can include personalized support for young adults transitioning to college, work or other life scenarios.

Why a Home Program?

1

Integration

Kids and Young adults will come home after treatment. This process (even though they are excited) is often the hardest part for them as they are "removed" from a contained and nurturing environment where they felt safe, connected with peers and found life simple compared to modern challenges outside of the treatment models. The task is to integrate with "steps" and support for them to be able to hold onto the parts of themselves and their experience that can create lasting change at home and in life.
2

Preparation

Parents need to be prepared to support their loved one and themselves with a new plan and commitment as a family. The saying "the worst thing that can happen to you is that you come out exactly as you went in" really applies to what parents need to be thinking about. Your kids might be struggling but your structure, communication, boundaries and way of thinking are what creates the container they are living in. If you put them in the same container as before do you really expect them to change?
3

Support

We believe that Parents need the same training as treatment staff along with feedback and adaptive support to create safe and positive support for themselves and their child. To really support someone who is struggling with a mental or behavioral challenge then we hope you will take the time to learn and understand those challenges. If you assume you understand then you risk being wrong because you were never educated about other options.
